Dr. Frank Seaman, DDS, MS, FACP, is a board-certified prosthodontist, veteran USAF Colonel (Ret.), and the clinical founder behind Simply Breathe. His work with patients experiencing mouth breathing, TMJ symptoms, clenching, grinding, dry mouth, and poor sleep led him to develop the original LipSeal Tape, now Simply Breathe.
Dr. Frank Seaman graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point in 1970 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, began his Air Force career as a chemical engineer, and later earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific Dental School in San Francisco. He continued his postgraduate education with a one-year general practice residency, a three-year prosthodontic residency, and a Master of Science degree in Prosthodontics from the University of Texas.
Dr. Seaman served 22 years in the United States Air Force Dental Corps and retired in 1992 as a Colonel. His military and clinical career included consultant roles for area dental commanders in the Far East and Europe, and he has also served as a consultant to the Colorado State Board. After returning to Colorado Springs, he built a private practice focused on the specialty of prosthodontics.
Throughout his career, he worked with patients experiencing TMJ pain, clenching, grinding, airway challenges, dry mouth, tooth wear, morning headaches, and the exhaustion that can come from poor sleep. Over time, he saw a repeated pattern: many of these issues were connected to nighttime mouth breathing.
Long before mouth taping became widely discussed in the wellness world, Dr. Seaman began teaching patients about nasal breathing and its connection to oral health, sleep quality, and overall well-being. To support that habit at night, he created the earliest version of LipSeal Tape, now Simply Breathe.
Dr. Seaman's work combined clinical observation, patient care, and a practical understanding of how the mouth, airway, jaw, and sleep interact. His daughter, Lisa Seaman McKendry, later helped carry the product forward as Simply Breathe. An avid runner, he also tested nasal-breathing training personally, once attempting the Pikes Peak Ascent with his mouth taped for part of the effort.
Dr. Seaman's content is educational and based on decades of clinical experience. Simply Breathe is a consumer wellness product, not a medical device, and is not intended to diagnose, treat, or replace care from a licensed healthcare professional.
